There was a very Rockabilly distinct line between "white music" and "black music" in the mid-fifties, when Elvis Presley went into Sun Studios and was discovered famous. The mixture of the two styles, a mountainous region and the delta-billy and blues Midland, created a new sound that, indeed, others had been doing and only Elvis made famous – as a general. The real rockabilly sound did not last long, quickly becoming other styles and genres, and today tends to be considered as a serious "retro" sound, but the impact it had on American music is undeniable.
